Life is asynchronous

Concepts from the computer science world sometimes fit pretty well into the real world. Take for instance “asynchronous”, a property of most distributed systems. In an asynchronous system we do not have known bounds for process execution time, message passing or drift rate of clocks. In other words, asynchronous systems are hard to deal with…

Wait a sec, what am I talking about? Oh yeah, the real world and life… Well, life is asynchronous. It is Friday evening, I just turned in a paper (for Distributed Systems class, obviously) earlier this afternoon and decided to have the evening off. What is everybody else doing: Homework. What was everybody doing yesterday evening: Having fun. What was I doing yesterday evening: Homework. What am I doing this evening: Being mellow. Clearly, this is a result of bad synchronization between my fun life and my work life. The message got there too late: “Put down the pen and go out into the night”.

Oh well, at least I can have fun writing posts like this showing off my extensive computer science knowledge. Or something like that…

  1. Dear David
Nice to see you have translation problems – overspringshandlinger mv.
Jeg har ikke plads lige nu til at springe over. Kom hjem fra Cypern i morges kl. 5 og tager af sted i morgen til Bxl kl. 4.45.
Christmas things have come down from the attic- one week too late -we miss you to participate-but thats life! Looking forward to have you here for Christmas!
    with love Johannes
