Weekday luxuries

Unfortunately, I have been very demotivated this term so far. I cannot explain why because the weather is getting better, the Summer is coming up and everybody look more happy in the sun. Maybe it is the fact that a year is drawing to a close, meaning that almost all the people closest to me here in Eugene will be leaving on a jet plane to the other side of the world.

However, this does not prevent me from enjoying the “sweet fruits” of life as I have mentioned earlier. In Denmark, my roommate Mathias and I had the perfect formula for weekday luxury. Luckily this is a universal thing and Cecilia and I thus decided quite spontaneously the other night to buy a bottle of wine, some “sweet fruits” and a little bit of chips (later with company by Maria and Dan as well). That’s perfect weekday luxury. Due to unfortunate events that still seem pretty close although they are becoming more and more distant, I couldn’t help but think of the first few lines of Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead. Draw your own conclusions…

Anyway, I do actually have a point with this other than just sharing anecdotes. It might seem obvious but please help me reminding myself (and yourself) that life should be fun and interesting 90% of the time and not only when we have time for it to be fun. I am very bad at remembering this but I wish I could be better. I promise myself to try and I will begin by trying to have fun writing the two assignments I have due on Wednesday… yay…. YAAAAY…… Hmm it is not working. I guess I will have to practice a little more.

  1. That’s a respectable bag of chips you’ve found there. What’s that, family size?

Sad to have those kinds of memories connected to red wine, but time should hopefully make it better.

Anyhow, when are you thinking of returning, if ever? When the government changes? :) Remember you’re not allowed to vote after being away for a certain amount of time.

  2. No, that’s a normal sized bag of chips. What the Americans call “family size” is bigger than that. You know everything is bigger here :-)

I will be gone (if everything goes as planned) for just a little less than 2 years. This means that I will continue to have voting right in Denmark for the entire time I am here in the US. A new government in Denmark would be nice!

I do not know when to return yet. I do not think, I will come back this summer if I get to stay here. But let’s see…
